On a cool Sunday evening, November 2, 2025, 51-year-old Robert McKenna Carver, a man from Bakersfield, was shot along a lonely stretch of Highway 155 in the small Kern County community of Woody. At about 6:24 p.m., gunfire broke the quiet in the 37000 block of the highway, a rural road that winds through the foothills north of Bakersfield.
