In the early hours of a Sunday morning in Diboll, Texas, the life of 19-year-old Lewis Alonzo Torres was tragically cut short. On November 2, 2025, Torres was at a party on El Paso Road when gunfire erupted. Deputies from the Angelina County Sheriff's Office responded to a call about the shooting at approximately 2:07 a.m. and discovered a scene of chaos. Three individuals had been shot.
Lewis Alonzo Torres was pronounced dead at the scene.
Torres, known to his loved ones as "Lew," was remembered as a respectful and beloved young man who was always surrounded by friends. He had a vibrant personality, loved to sing and dance, and was often the life of the party. Described as a protector of his family and friends, his sudden death left a void in the hearts of those who knew him.
In the aftermath of the shooting, two other teenagers, a 17-year-old and a 15-year-old, were found to have sustained non-life-threatening gunshot wounds to the leg and foot, respectively. They were transported to local hospitals for treatment.
Investigators at the scene recovered spent 9mm shell casings and, through witness information, quickly identified a suspect. Perry Lynn Dixon, a 21-year-old from Lufkin, was located by deputies hiding under a bed in his apartment. During a search of the residence, authorities discovered a Glock 9mm pistol concealed in a return air vent in the hallway ceiling, which they believe to be the weapon used in the shooting.
Dixon was taken into custody and is being held at the Angelina County Jail. He has been charged with murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Authorities have indicated that more charges are expected in relation to the injuries sustained by the two other teenagers.
