Jermaine Lafel Miles, a 50-year-old man from Grasonville, Maryland, was found dead in his vehicle on the afternoon of Tuesday, November 4, 2025. A UPS driver making deliveries in the area discovered the car stopped in the roadway on Lovers Lane, a rural road just outside of Chestertown, and placed a 911 call around 3:35 p.m. When a patrol deputy from the Kent County Sheriff's Office arrived, they found Miles unresponsive inside the vehicle, suffering from what was determined to be a fatal
gunshot wound. The investigation into his death was immediately classified as a homicide.
The Kent County Sheriff’s Office, with assistance from the Maryland State Police Crime Scene Unit, launched a full investigation into the shooting. Authorities appealed to the public for any information regarding the incident, asking anyone who might have seen the vehicle or noticed anything unusual in the area to come forward. For weeks, the investigation continued as detectives pursued leads and interviewed numerous people. The community mourned the loss of Miles, who was described as a well-loved member of the Grasonville community.
In early December 2025, a Kent County Grand Jury returned indictments against two men in connection with the murder. On December 10, 2025, authorities arrested Charles Alsup III, 45, of Chestertown, and Tavon Pierre Bordley, 47, of Ridgely. Alsup was apprehended in Smyrna, Delaware, with the assistance of the U.S. Marshals Service and Delaware State Police, while Bordley was taken into custody at a residence in Chestertown. Both men were charged with a range of offenses, including first- and second-degree murder, conspiracy to commit murder, armed robbery, and firearm use in a felony.
Later that month, on December 29, investigators arrested a third individual, Tyshea Renee Diaz, 29, of Millington. She was charged with obstructing and hindering the investigation and two counts of being an accessory after the fact, accused of intentionally misleading detectives during their efforts to identify and apprehend the murder suspects.
