In the quiet neighborhood of Fairland, Maryland, a domestic dispute escalated into a tragedy on the evening of Thursday, November 6, 2025, ending the life of 54-year-old Sarahi Concepcion Aragon-Cruz. Around 5:41 p.m., Montgomery County Police and Fire Rescue personnel were dispatched to a residence in the 3000 block of Memory Lane following a report of a shooting. Inside the home, they discovered Aragon-Cruz suffering from gunshot wounds.
Despite the immediate life-saving efforts of first responders, she was pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation into the death of the female victim quickly pointed to a male suspect who was known to her. Investigators determined that an argument inside the home preceded the fatal shooting, after which the suspect fled the scene. The suspect was soon identified as her 58-year-old husband, Edwin Javier Aragon. While authorities were actively searching for him, the case took a sudden turn.
Two days after the incident, on Saturday, November 8, Edwin Javier Aragon voluntarily surrendered to authorities. He turned himself in at the Montgomery County Department of Police 3rd District Station in Colesville around 8:30 p.m. Following his surrender, detectives from the Major Crimes Division charged him with first-degree murder and the use of a handgun in the commission of a felony. He was subsequently held without bond at the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit, awaiting further legal proceedings. An autopsy was scheduled to be performed by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore to officially determine the cause and manner of death.
