In the heart of Chicago's Little Village, a tragedy unfolded on the evening of November 8, 2025, claiming the life of 25-year-old Luis Angel Alamo. A young man described as hardworking, he was fatally shot during an armed robbery at his family's jewelry store. The violent encounter also resulted in the death of his father, Faustino Alamo Dominguez, aged 63.
The father and son, who resided in Berwyn, were both present at Angelo's Jewelry near 26th Street and Hamlin Avenue when the deadly events transpired.
The incident was partially captured on a nearby surveillance camera, showing a man in a Blackhawks hoodie and a mask approaching the jewelry store. A struggle that began inside the establishment spilled out into the street. In the ensuing confrontation, the assailant discharged a firearm, striking both Luis and his father multiple times. The suspect then fled the scene with merchandise, reportedly escaping in a white SUV heading southbound on Springfield Avenue. Emergency services transported both men to Mount Sinai Hospital in critical condition, where they were later pronounced dead.
In the wake of the shooting, the Chicago Police Department launched an investigation into the double homicide. As of the initial reports, no arrests had been made, and no suspects were in custody. It was noted that Luis Alamo possessed a license to carry a firearm, though it remains unclear if he was armed during the robbery or if he had an opportunity to defend himself. To aid in the investigation, a reward of $10,000 has been offered by Crime Stoppers for any information that leads to the arrest of the individual responsible for this senseless act of violence. Funeral services for Luis Angel Alamo have been arranged, with a visitation scheduled to be held.
