Ray Dewayne Hodge, 35, a White male, was found dead on the afternoon of Friday, October 24, 2025, after deputies with the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office responded around 12:58 p.m. to a shooting in the 200 block of Williamson Road near Marietta, just outside Fairmont. The call brought law enforcement to a residence where Hodge was discovered deceased at the scene. An obituary later confirmed his name, age, hometown of Fairmont, and date of death.
Investigators quickly focused on individuals believed to be connected to the gunfire. At the scene, they took 24-year-old Aaron R. Hunt of Fairmont into custody. He was charged with first-degree murder, felony conspiracy, and stealing, altering, or destroying evidence. The investigation also led to the arrest of his mother, 48-year-old Sinador Hunt of Fairmont, who was charged with accessory after the fact, felony conspiracy, and stealing, altering, or destroying evidence.
Both were booked into the Robeson County Detention Center; Aaron Hunt was held without bond, while Sinador Hunt received a $100,000 secured bond. Authorities said the homicide division is leading the case and asked anyone with information to contact the sheriff’s office, underscoring that all defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
