Dallas police said officers responded around 1:30 a.m. and found five people had been shot; Cuellar died at the scene while the others were taken to area hospitals. Local outlets identified him publicly soon after authorities confirmed his name.
Friends and family described a night out that turned tragic, and Spanish-language coverage noted the family’s pleas for justice as they mourned. An obituary later posted by a Dallas funeral home affirmed his name and age and set services for later in October, underscoring the suddenness of his loss.
In the days that followed, detectives reviewed surveillance and witness accounts indicating a confrontation preceded the shooting. On October 23, police announced that 20-year-old Alexis Armenta had turned himself in to U.S. Marshals; he was to be booked into the Dallas County Jail on a capital murder charge in connection with the case. Police also reported that another victim wounded in the same incident, identified as 20-year-old Daniel Cojulum Villanueva, died on October 21.
Authorities said the investigation remains active. Early reports asked the public for tips as detectives worked to piece together the sequence of events and all individuals involved.
