On the evening of Sunday, October 19, 2025, the life of 22-year-old Kimaria Wilson, a Black female from Camden, Arkansas, was tragically cut short. Camden Police officers were dispatched to an apartment in the 100 block of Fort Landing Manner at approximately 5:45 p.m. following reports of a shooting. Upon entering the residence, they discovered Wilson suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.
Despite immediate life-saving efforts, Kimaria Wilson succumbed to her injuries and was
pronounced dead at the scene around 8:30 p.m. by the Ouachita County Coroner. Her body was subsequently transported to the Arkansas State Crime Laboratory for an autopsy to officially determine the cause and manner of death. The Camden Police Department requested the assistance of the Arkansas State Police Criminal Investigation Division to lead the homicide investigation. Investigators began processing the scene and gathering evidence to piece together the events that led to the fatal shooting.
The investigation quickly progressed, and just two days later, on October 21, 2025, special agents with the Arkansas State Police arrested a suspect in connection with Wilson's death. Makya McClain, a 17-year-old from Camden, was taken into custody and faces charges of First-Degree Murder and Tampering with Physical Evidence. Following the arrest, McClain was transported to the Jack Jones Juvenile Detention Facility in Pine Bluff. While an arrest has been made, authorities have not publicly released information regarding a possible motive for the shooting. The investigation into the death of Kimaria Wilson remains ongoing.
