Briana Casto, 24, female, was found shot to death late morning on October 20, 2025, inside an apartment along the 4600 block of North Josey Lane in Carrollton, Texas. Officers responding around 10 a.m. to a medical emergency found her beyond help; investigators quickly determined she had been killed by a gunshot wound.
Detectives identified her boyfriend, Jomaar Lee Davis, as the suspect and obtained a murder warrant as multiple agencies began searching for him.
Overnight, investigators used court-authorized cell phone pings to trace him north to Van Alstyne. Before dawn on October 21, officers found him barricaded in a vehicle believed to be connected to Casto. Negotiators made phone contact, but the call was cut off; as a SWAT team approached, a single shot rang out. Davis had turned the gun on himself. He was taken to a hospital, where he died.
There were no arrests in the case; the lone suspect died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound during the standoff. The operation drew assistance from multiple agencies in Grayson and Collin counties and prompted a delayed start at nearby Partin Elementary while the scene was secured. Carrollton police have continued to ask anyone with information related to the shooting to contact investigators.
Casto's name and age were later listed among gun violence victims memorialized online, matching the date and location of the Carrollton shooting. Her killing has been described by authorities and local coverage as a domestic-violence homicide, a label underscored by the short, violent span between her death and the suspect's suicide.
