Monica Candelaria, 22, a woman from Albuquerque, vanished on May 15, 2003. Friends told police, even then, that they had heard Monica Candelaria, 22, had been killed and buried out on the city's windswept West Mesa, a rumor that would haunt the margins of her missing-persons file for years.
