On a late morning in South Cumminsville, Jevon Kirk, 27, a male from the Cincinnati area, was shot along the 3800 block of Llewellyn Avenue on May 30, 2025. Someone rushed Jevon Kirk, 27, to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center in a private vehicle, where doctors listed him in stable but critical condition. A week later, on June 7, 2025, Jevon Kirk, 27, died of his injuries, and the Hamilton County Coroner classified the case as a homicide.
Police did not immediately say what led to the gunfire.
As detectives worked the case, attention turned to a house on Llewellyn where, according to court filings described by local outlets, Keron Bonds was accused of shooting Jevon Kirk, 27, while another man, Landin Behanan, was alleged to have driven Bonds to the location. In the immediate aftermath, both men were arrested and initially charged with felonious assault, while investigators and attorneys offered no clear motive. Bond amounts differed—higher for Bonds—and both men were barred from possessing firearms if released.
Within days of Jevon Kirk’s death, a Hamilton County grand jury indicted Landin Behanan on two counts of murder, one count of felonious assault, and having weapons under disability, formalizing the case as a homicide prosecution. At the same time, a previously filed felonious-assault charge against the other man was “ignored” by the grand jury, according to the outlet citing court records. The investigation remained active, and authorities did not publicly disclose a motive.
