In the summer of 2025, a devastating series of events unfolded in West Tennessee, culminating in the tragic death of 38-year-old Cortney Rose and three members of her family. On July 29, 2025, Cortney, a devoted mother known for her infectious laughter and beautiful smile, was found deceased in Tiptonville, a small town in Lake County. Her life, along with those of her 20-year-old daughter Adrianna Williams, her 15-year-old son Braydon Williams, and her daughter's 21-year-old partner James M. Wilson, was cut short in a targeted act of violence that shook the community.
The grim discovery of the four victims, all of whom had been shot to death, was preceded by a puzzling and alarming event in a neighboring county. Earlier that day, a 7-month-old infant was found abandoned but unharmed in a car seat in a stranger's front yard. The subsequent investigation to identify the child and locate her parents led authorities to the horrific scene in Tiptonville. The infant was identified as the daughter of Adrianna Williams and James Wilson.
The investigation into the quadruple homicide quickly focused on 28-year-old Austin Robert Drummond, who reportedly had a relationship with the family. Believed to be armed and dangerous, a multi-agency manhunt was launched to find him. Warrants were issued for Drummond's arrest on four counts of first-degree murder and one count of aggravated kidnapping. In the days that followed, law enforcement located the vehicle Drummond was believed to be driving and eventually apprehended him.
Further investigation led to the arrest of three other individuals in connection with the murders. Tanaka Brown, 29, Giovonte Thomas, 29, and Dearrah Sanders were all charged with accessory after the fact to first-degree murder, with authorities alleging they assisted Drummond. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation stated their belief that the attack on Cortney Rose and her family was not a random act of violence.
