In the early morning hours of a Thursday in the Green Sea area of Horry County, South Carolina, a violent encounter left one man dead and another injured. On August 7, 2025, shots rang out at a residence on Circle Heights Drive, prompting a response from the Horry County Police Department around 2:30 a.m. Inside the home, officers discovered two individuals had been shot.
One of the victims was 66-year-old Marvin McMillan, a male resident of the home.
He sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was immediately transported to Grand Strand Regional Medical Center for emergency medical treatment. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, McMillan succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead several hours later on August 8, 2025. The cause of his death was determined to be trauma from the gunshot wounds.
The second individual, who has not been publicly identified, suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to a hospital by a private vehicle. In the immediate aftermath of the shooting, law enforcement officials began their investigation into the homicide.
