On the evening of August 1, 2025, a domestic dispute in a home near Happy Valley, Oregon, ended in the tragic death of 36-year-old Marc Richard Floyd. A frantic 911 call was made by Floyd's wife, who reported that her husband had been shot. The incident occurred at a residence in the 12000 block of Southeast Easthampton Street in unincorporated Clackamas County.
When Clackamas County sheriff's deputies arrived at the scene just before 7 p.m., they found 72-year-old David Lynn Jurgenson
standing outside the house. Believing him to be the shooter, they took him into custody without incident. Jurgenson was later identified as Marc Floyd's father-in-law. Deputies then safely escorted Floyd's wife and their 17-month-old child from the home.
Inside, they discovered Marc Richard Floyd in the living room with at least one gunshot wound to the chest. Despite emergency medical aid provided by the deputies and first responders who arrived shortly after, Floyd succumbed to his injuries and died at the scene.
David Lynn Jurgenson was arrested and booked into the Clackamas County Jail without bail. He was later arraigned on charges of second-degree murder, two counts of unlawful use of a weapon, and two counts of recklessly endangering another person. The fatal shooting is said to have occurred after a domestic dispute at Jurgenson's home, where his daughter and grandchild were also present.
