Four-year-old boy Jayce Edwards was shot and killed on September 17, 2025, when gunfire tore through his family's townhome on Cigar Court in Charlotte's Steele Creek area as suspects tried to steal a car outside around daybreak. Officers called to the scene around 6 a.m. found Jayce Edwards, age 4, gravely wounded; investigators later said shots were fired into the residence from outside while a black Dodge Charger was being stolen nearby.
