Tyrus Devon Davis, 44, a Black male, was shot and killed in Greensboro, North Carolina, on Friday, September 19, 2025. Deputies were dispatched to Starling Court in a northwest Greensboro neighborhood after reports of a disturbance and gunfire. They found Davis in the roadway, mortally wounded, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators quickly focused on an altercation that unfolded in front of a residence on the 4100 block of Starling Court.
According to authorities, the other man involved, 29-year-old Dex-Shone Quinnashea Miles, called 911 after the confrontation and remained at the location. Deputies arrested him without incident and charged him with second-degree murder. Subsequent booking records show Miles was taken into custody the following day in Guilford County. As of the latest reports, the case remains active.
Public memorial notices later confirmed Davis’s identity and age and noted that he had deep ties to eastern North Carolina. Funeral arrangements were announced by Shawn Lea Funeral Home, with services scheduled for September 28, 2025, at Weldon Middle School in Halifax County, reflecting the gathering of family and friends to mourn his loss.
Authorities have not announced additional suspects, and law enforcement communications have emphasized that the investigation is ongoing.
