DeVante Nathaniel Tyler, a 21-year-old Black/African American male from Kansas City, Missouri, was shot during the pre-dawn hours of Friday, May 16, 2025, inside an apartment at 6002 NE Bircain Place in nearby Gladstone. Officers responding to a disturbance with shots fired at about 2:16 a.m. found DeVante Nathaniel Tyler gravely wounded; he was rushed to a local hospital and pronounced dead shortly after.
