In a tragic turn of events on a Sunday evening in Moorhead, Mississippi, 22-year-old Phamous Harris lost his life. The incident, which unfolded on June 1, 2025, took place at a local car wash situated at the intersection of Highway 3 and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. Police were called to the scene at approximately 5:45 p.m. following reports of a shootout. Harris was gravely wounded during the exchange of gunfire and was rushed to South Sunflower County Hospital, but he was pronounced dead on arrival at 7:24 p.m.
The investigation into the shooting led to the identification of a suspect, 25-year-old Johnquavious Seals, also a resident of Moorhead. Seals was reportedly severely injured during the same shootout that claimed Harris's life. In a surprising development, Seals, with his attorney present, turned himself in to the authorities on June 4 at 9:00 a.m. after being released from the hospital.
Following his surrender, Johnquavious Seals was arrested and formally charged with murder in connection with the death of Phamous Harris. He was subsequently booked into the Sunflower County jail. The motive for the shootout and the circumstances leading up to the fatal encounter at the car wash have not been publicly detailed. Funeral services for Phamous Stylle Harris were held on Saturday, June 28, at the Saint Luke Church of God in Christ in Moorhead, with his burial following at Pine Ridge Cemetery.
