In a tragic turn of events on the evening of June 16, 2025, 25-year-old Kianna Jackson, a female resident of Pearl, Mississippi, was fatally shot while in the drive-through of a McDonald's in Brandon. The incident, which unfolded at the Stribling Lane location, is being investigated as a murder-suicide. Jackson was a cherished mother to her five-year-old daughter and three-year-old son.
Authorities arrived at the scene shortly before 7:00 p.m.
to find Jackson deceased from an apparent gunshot wound. The suspect, identified as 27-year-old Jhonterryes Dampier of Mendenhall, was also found at the scene with what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Dampier was in a relationship with Jackson, and they shared two children. The shooting is believed to be the result of a domestic dispute.
Dampier was transported to a local hospital for treatment but succumbed to his injuries on June 18, 2025. The Rankin County Coroner's Office confirmed his death. Brandon's Police Chief, Joseph French, and Mayor, Butch Lee, both commented on the tragic nature of the event, particularly as it occurred in the presence of the couple's children. The investigation into the deaths of both Kianna Jackson and Jhonterryes Dampier is ongoing. The management of the McDonald's franchise where the incident took place issued a statement expressing their sorrow and confirming their cooperation with the police investigation.
