On June 21, 2025, 35-year-old Shanetra Marie Batie was found shot to death near the intersection of Taylor Cutoff Road and Mississippi Highway 586 in the Foxworth/Kokomo area of Marion County, Mississippi. First responders pronounced 35-year-old Shanetra Marie Batie, a female victim, dead at the scene from an apparent gunshot wound. She was Black/African American. Authorities said an eight-year-old child fled the vehicle involved and reached safety.
