In the late afternoon sun of a July day in Verona, Mississippi, the life of 34-year-old Iesha Listenbee was tragically cut short. On Sunday, July 6, 2025, an argument broke out between two women at a residence on Arizona Drive. The dispute escalated, and a single gunshot fatally wounded Listenbee in front of her own home. The Verona Police were called to the scene around 4:45 p.m.
Authorities quickly identified a person of interest, and not long after, an arrest was made in connection
with the fatal shooting. Ashley Kuante Gray, also 34 years old, was taken into custody and subsequently charged with the murder of Listenbee. Investigators have not publicly released details about the nature of the argument that preceded the deadly encounter. Gray is being held in the Lee County jail on a $2 million bond as the investigation continues.
Iesha Vienna Listenbee was born in Tupelo, Mississippi, on February 17, 1991. She was known by loved ones as a caring and thoughtful person who was concerned about the well-being of others. Having attended schools in Tupelo and Verona, she was a member of the local community. Her body was sent to the state medical examiner's office for an autopsy.
