Kayne Labrie, 17, a Black male from Ville Platte, Louisiana, died on June 25, 2025, after being shot at an apartment complex near the intersection of Soileau Street and Edward Knotoe Thomas Jr. Street. Responding officers found the 17-year-old with a single gunshot wound to the upper chest; he was taken to Mercy Regional Medical Center in Ville Platte, where he succumbed to his injury.
