Benjamin Kaplan, the night clerk at the Apache Motel, was stabbed multiple times by an unknown suspect during an apparent robbery. Benjamin came on duty at 11:00 p.m., to work his graveyard shift. At approximately 11:30 p.m., the manager, who lived on the premises, heard Benjamin yelling. The manager went to the office area and found Benjamin, collapsed on the floor.
