African-American/Black male, age 45. Reginald Durwan Carr was shot to death just after midnight on February 11, 2017, inside a west valley home near Washington Avenue and Rainbow Boulevard in Las Vegas. Police were called to the 700 block of Dolores Drive around 12:15–12:20 a.m. and found Carr, known to loved ones as Reggie, mortally wounded from multiple gunshots; the Clark County coroner ruled his death a homicide.
Another man was discovered outside the residence with a gunshot wound to the leg and was treated and later released at MountainView Hospital.
Detectives determined that the gunfire came from outside the home. Witnesses reported that a man in a hooded sweatshirt opened fire into the residence before fleeing to a dark-colored sedan parked nearby along Washington. The initial canvass yielded only a brief suspect description and no immediate motive, while friends mourned Carr publicly in the days that followed.
Authorities identified Carr by name and age and emphasized that the case was being handled by the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Section. At the time of the early reports, no arrests were announced, and police asked anyone with information to contact detectives or Crime Stoppers.
