Mark Demone' Morris Jr., 26, a Black male, died in the predawn hours of May 12, 2025, after gunfire erupted outside Club Compound on the 2200 block of Kingshighway in Washington Park, just east of St. Louis. First responders were called to the scene after reports of shots near the nightclub; Morris was found mortally wounded and was pronounced dead on scene in the early morning, as Illinois State Police later confirmed.
