Contrail Boone, a 24-year-old Black male from Chicago, was fatally shot on the night of May 17, 2025. He was found wounded near 147th Street and Evers Avenue in the south suburb of Dolton, close to the Dolton Park District’s Lester Long Fieldhouse. Responding officers discovered two gunshot victims; Boone’s injuries proved fatal. He was transported and pronounced dead at 9:43 p.m.
at UChicago Medicine Ingalls Memorial Hospital in Harvey, and the Cook County medical examiner ruled his death a homicide caused by multiple gunshot wounds.
Officials identified him as a Chicago resident from the 200 block of East 121st Place. Local reporting characterized the shooting as an isolated incident near a village park, drawing a swift police response and a continuing inquiry into the circumstances of the gunfire that left Boone mortally injured.
In the days that followed, authorities stated the investigation was ongoing.
