In the early morning hours of July 13, 2025, the life of 56-year-old Randolph Smith, a Black male, was tragically cut short in a fatal shooting in Southwest Baltimore. Responding to the sound of gunfire around 1:30 a.m. in the 3900 block of Frederick Avenue, police officers discovered Smith with gunshot wounds. He was quickly transported to a nearby hospital, but his injuries proved to be too severe, and he was pronounced dead.
The investigation into Smith's death led Baltimore Police to
identify 55-year-old Charles Anthony Boatright as a suspect in the homicide. Authorities actively sought the public's assistance in locating Boatright, circulating his description and details of the case. He was considered a person of interest in connection with the deadly shooting that transpired in the Irvington neighborhood.
After a period of searching, Charles Anthony Boatright was apprehended in North Carolina on October 11, 2025. His arrest marked a significant development in the investigation into Randolph Smith's murder. Boatright was taken into custody to face accusations for his alleged involvement in the killing of Smith.
