In what has been described as a domestic dispute, 38-year-old Aaron Dunn, a Black male, was shot and killed on August 4, 2025, in Monroe, Louisiana. The incident, which ended a 78-day period without a homicide in the city, occurred on Lock Drive.
Officers from the Monroe Police Department were dispatched to the scene following reports of a disturbance. Upon arrival, they discovered Dunn suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
He was transported to a local hospital where he ultimately succumbed to his injuries. Investigators have indicated that they do not believe the shooting was a random act of violence.
Within days of the shooting, authorities announced an arrest in connection with Dunn's death. On August 7, 2025, Kendrashawn Nichols was taken into custody. He has been charged with second-degree murder, theft of a motor vehicle, and illegal possession of a stolen firearm. While a motive has not been officially released, the investigation is centered on the arrested suspect.
