Marie Hunt, a 37-year-old White female from Raynham, Massachusetts, was found dead on August 8, 2025, inside the home she shared with her partner after a 911 call drew police to 134 Elm Street just after noon. Responding officers forced entry into a locked second-floor bedroom, where they discovered Hunt and her partner, 35-year-old Mark Henshaw, both suffering from gunshot wounds. Two young children were found in the home unharmed.
Within days, the Bristol County District Attorney’s office announced that the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner had determined the deaths to be a murder-suicide: Hunt’s death was ruled a homicide caused by a gunshot wound to the torso, and Henshaw died by suicide. Authorities said there were no signs of forced entry and identified the scene as a domestic setting; the investigation was led by Massachusetts State Police assigned to the DA’s office alongside Raynham Police.
Public tributes soon followed. The Massachusetts Department of Correction issued a statement mourning Hunt, noting she was a six-year correction officer most recently serving at Old Colony Correctional Center. An obituary published by a local funeral home identified her as a lifelong Raynham resident, born in Brockton and a graduate of Bridgewater-Raynham Regional High School.
Authorities have not announced any arrests in connection with Hunt’s death, and there are no outstanding suspects, as investigators concluded Henshaw was responsible for the killing before taking his own life. Memorial notices and gun-violence records reflecting the final determination echoed the official findings.
