Maritza Ferman Sorto, 35, female, was shot outside the Gaithersburg home she shared with her partner in the predawn hours of Sunday, August 31, 2025. Officers were dispatched just before 2:45 a.m. to the 9000 block of Centerway Road after a 911 call reported gunfire. First responders found her outside with an apparent gunshot wound; despite lifesaving efforts, she was pronounced dead at the scene.
