An evening out at a video poker room in Arnaudville, Louisiana, turned fatal for 31-year-old Nathan Alexander Powell on Saturday, August 30, 2025. The male victim was inside the Tiger Touchdown on Main Street when a dispute escalated into a physical altercation. The conflict took a deadly turn when another man, identified as 22-year-old Hayden Reese Boudreaux, also of Arnaudville, drew a firearm.
The confrontation happened at approximately 6:30 p.m.
Following a brief fight, Boudreaux allegedly shot Powell. Reports vary on the specifics of the injuries, with some indicating a single gunshot to the neck and others stating he sustained two gunshot wounds to the chest. After the shooting, the suspect fled the scene. Officers who arrived shortly after began administering CPR until medical personnel could take over. Powell was rushed to a local hospital, but he ultimately succumbed to his injuries.
Law enforcement quickly identified Hayden Boudreaux as the suspect, and he was subsequently arrested and booked into the St. Landry Parish Jail. He faces a charge of second-degree murder for his alleged role in the death of Nathan Powell. A grand jury later indicted Boudreaux on the second-degree murder charge, moving the case forward in the legal system. He was scheduled to be arraigned on January 8, 2026.
