Roderick Forkner, 19, a Black male, was shot in the early hours of Labor Day on Government Street near South Foster Drive in Baton Rouge. Around 3 a.m., a dark-colored sedan pulled alongside the vehicle he was in and multiple shots were fired, sending him and another young man to the hospital; Forkner later died. The second victim’s injuries were described as non-life-threatening.
