In the rural community of Viper, Kentucky, a retired coal miner, Wallace Cornett, a 63-year-old male, was killed on Monday, July 7, 2025. Cornett, a man known for his caring heart and love for the outdoors, was fatally shot at close range with a shotgun inside a residence on Middle Fork of Maces Creek Road. The incident occurred just before 2 p.m., sending ripples of shock through the small, unincorporated community.
