Demetrus Cole Jr., 20, male, was found on a Saturday night in Chicago’s South Shore neighborhood, lying on the pavement in the 2000 block of East 68th Street. He had been shot multiple times shortly before 10:55 p.m., and first responders pronounced him dead at the scene, according to police and the Cook County medical examiner. His name and age were released publicly soon after, confirming the young man’s identity and the grim finality of the violence that ended his life.
