Derik Johnson, 18, male, Black/African American, was shot and killed late on July 23, 2025, on Chicago’s Southwest Side in the West Lawn neighborhood. Police and reporters placed the attack in the 7200 block of South Avers Avenue, where Derik Johnson, 18, had been walking with friends when gunfire erupted, striking him fatally and wounding a 15-year-old boy.
