Zomarrius Williams, 20, a male from Mount Vernon, Illinois, died on July 27, 2025, after gunfire erupted just before 1 a.m. at a large, unsanctioned gathering in the 600 block of South 15th Street; he was Black/African American. Police reported that more than 100 people had been present when shots were fired, leaving two men dead and five others wounded.
