In the bleak expanse of a Las Vegas desert area, the body of 37-year-old Caucasian female Cynthia Elaine Oquist was discovered on February 6, 1998. A homeless man stumbled upon her remains near the Las Vegas Wash and Vegas Valley Boulevard and promptly alerted a nearby patrol officer. Investigators determined that her body had been lying there for three to five days before being found.
