Amber LaFlora, 37, a Black woman from Hawthorne, was shot to death just before dawn on July 18, 2025, in the parking lot of a strip mall at Inglewood Avenue and West 116th Street, outside the VIP Sports Bar. First responders found Amber LaFlora suffering from multiple gunshot wounds near her car around 2 a.m., and she was pronounced dead at the scene.
