George White, 83, a Black/African American man, was fatally shot on the night of July 23, 2025, at his home in West Melbourne, Florida. Deputies responded around 8:45 p.m. to the Washington Street area after reports of gunfire and found George White, 83, and his wife, Mary White, 81, wounded; both were transported to a hospital where George White, 83, later died. A 25-year-old female neighbor was also shot but survived and was expected to recover.
