In the late hours of a Saturday, on September 20, 2025, the life of 41-year-old Deondrey Pierre Florence, Sr. was tragically cut short in Barnesville, Georgia. Just before midnight, at approximately 11:45 p.m., the sound of gunfire pierced the night near the 200 block of Southland Drive. When Barnesville Police Department officers arrived at the scene, they discovered Florence deceased.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation was promptly called in to assist with the homicide investigation.
Their efforts soon identified a primary suspect, 17-year-old Arrington Mckheil Bostic of Monticello. A public alert was issued for Bostic, who was considered armed and dangerous.
On September 29, 2025, Bostic was arrested and faced a slate of serious charges, including felony murder, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime. The investigation also led to the arrests of two other young adults. Eighteen-year-old Ferrijha Sakarra Sims of Flovilla was charged with tampering with evidence, while 19-year-old Wadderius Dyjon Brown of Barnesville was charged with making false statements. All three were taken into custody and booked at the Lamar County Sheriff's Office.
Deondrey Florence, who was born on February 29, 1984, in Chicago, Illinois, had been a machine operator at Langdale for three years. He was a father to four children and enjoyed pastimes such as watching movies, bowling, and football. His family and friends remember him as a man who cherished spending time with his loved ones, especially his children. The investigation into his death is ongoing, and upon its completion, the case will be handed over to the Towaliga District Attorney's Office for prosecution.
