Sarah Bulat, a 42-year-old White/Caucasian woman, was found dead inside a Dunedin home on the evening of August 25, 2025, after deputies with the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office conducted a welfare check. Detectives said they were called to 1561 Mac Charles Court around 8:07 p.m. because 54-year-old Charles Reid Jr. had been sending suicidal text messages to family.
When deputies entered through an unsecured door, they discovered Bulat—identified by authorities as Reid’s girlfriend—dead from a gunshot wound. Moments later, a single gunshot sounded from a bathroom; deputies found Reid inside with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, and he was pronounced dead at the scene. Several suicide notes were recovered in the home, and next of kin were notified.
Investigators concluded that the incident was an apparent murder-suicide, with Reid believed to have killed Bulat before turning the gun on himself.
