David Donahue-Alayon, 37, male, was discovered just after 1:00 a.m. on September 3, 2025, outside The Irlo Hotel at 5565 W. Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway in Kissimmee. Deputies with the Osceola County Sheriff's Office arrived for a report of an unknown medical problem and found him lying face down; investigators determined he had been shot in the chest and he was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities identified him as a resident of Orlando.
As detectives worked the case, they named 33-year-old Shahzaib Ahmed Khan as the suspect and obtained an arrest warrant on a charge of murder with a firearm. The sheriff's office initially warned that Khan should be considered armed and dangerous while asking the public to share tips.
The following evening, on September 4, 2025, deputies located Khan in Orange County's Tangelo Park neighborhood and took him into custody without incident. Local outlets reported the arrest and noted that authorities had not released details about the relationship between Khan and Donahue-Alayon or a possible motive.
Subsequent reporting stated that, in addition to the homicide warrant, Khan faced drug-trafficking charges after his arrest.
