Keith Deon Golson, 38, a Black male, was found critically wounded on the morning of September 10, 2025, along the sidewalk near Franklin Boulevard and 44th Avenue in Sacramento County's Lemon Hill area. Deputies and bystanders performed CPR before he was rushed to a hospital, where he died from his injuries. Investigators quickly traced the shooting to an argument between two customers outside a nearby liquor store, a dispute that escalated into gunfire within minutes.
A distinctive clue — a vehicle with a tire strapped to its roof — helped deputies zero in on a suspect vehicle spotted at a nearby gas station.
By that evening, deputies arrested 56-year-old Pedro Alonzo on suspicion of murder. A second person initially detained was later released after investigators determined they were not involved. Alonzo was booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail and deemed ineligible for bail as the homicide investigation continued. Officials later publicly identified the victim as Golson.
