Ruben Dominguez De La Cruz, a 38-year-old Hispanic/Latino man, was shot in a Panorama City park late on the night of September 17, 2025. Officers were dispatched just before midnight to 8825 Kester Avenue, the grounds of Sepulveda Recreation Center, where they found him suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was formally pronounced dead early the next day; the coroner identified him and ruled the manner of death a homicide caused by multiple gunshot wounds.
Accounts from the scene placed the violence around 11:45 p.m., and responding Los Angeles Police Department personnel located the victim in the park between Rayen and Parthenia streets. Reporting in the immediate aftermath noted the man had been found lying in the park, and that lifesaving efforts by first responders could not revive him.
Detectives canvassed the area through the night and into the following day. By September 20, authorities publicly identified the victim as Ruben Dominguez De La Cruz and said witnesses had reported an argument with another man before shots were fired. Investigators did not release a suspect description, and no arrests were announced; the LAPD’s Valley Bureau Homicide unit asked anyone with information to come forward, including through L.A. Crime Stoppers.
