In what began as an ordinary afternoon in Scottsdale, Arizona, a fatal encounter unfolded between two longtime friends. On Tuesday, May 20, 2025, 46-year-old Michael Bradford was found with a gunshot wound to his upper torso in the carport area of a residence near the 1800 block of North Miller Road. Police and fire crews responded to reports of a shooting at approximately 4:35 p.m. and quickly extracted Bradford from the scene to provide emergency medical aid.
He was then transported to a local hospital, but despite life-saving efforts, he was pronounced dead.
The suspect, identified as 48-year-old Sean Quinn, had retreated inside the home following the shooting. Law enforcement established a perimeter and negotiators made contact with Quinn via phone and loudspeaker, instructing him to exit the residence. Quinn appeared in the doorway but refused to comply with commands to surrender. After a standoff, a police canine was deployed to assist in the apprehension. The canine bit Quinn, and after a brief struggle, he was taken into custody.
Following his arrest, Quinn was transported to the hospital to be treated for the injury sustained from the dog bite. The subsequent investigation revealed that Quinn and Bradford had been friends for many years, and there were no known prior issues between them. After receiving medical clearance, Sean Quinn was booked into the Maricopa County Jail on one count of second-degree murder. The motive for the shooting has not been released.
