In the early morning hours of June 11, 2025, the city of Douglas was disturbed by a fatal shooting that claimed the life of 37-year-old Jose Diaz. Diaz, a male resident of the community, was discovered lying on a sidewalk around 2:00 a.m. having sustained gunshot wounds. He was transported to a local hospital but ultimately succumbed to his injuries.
