In the small community of Union Springs, Alabama, the life of a young Black man, Ladarrious Youngblood, was tragically cut short. On the evening of Thursday, June 12, 2025, the 25-year-old was found at the intersection of U.S. Highway 29 and Cocktail Drive with a fatal gunshot wound. His death has since been the subject of an active homicide investigation by the Bullock County Sheriff's Department.
The circumstances surrounding the shooting remain unclear, and authorities have released
limited details about the incident. In the immediate aftermath, law enforcement officials began an appeal to the public for any information that might lead to the apprehension of the person or persons responsible for Mr. Youngblood's death. To encourage witnesses to come forward, CrimeStoppers announced a $1,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest in the case.
Despite the ongoing investigation and the offer of a reward, there have been no public announcements regarding any arrests or the identification of any suspects in the murder of Ladarrious Youngblood. The case has left a void in the community as family and friends await answers and justice for a life taken too soon. Funeral services for Mr. Youngblood were held on Saturday, June 21, 2025, at the Old Sardis Missionary Baptist Church in Union Springs.
