A visit with a friend on a Tuesday in Chilton County, Alabama, ended in tragedy for Kirby Tyler Leon Jones. On August 5, 2025, the 31-year-old man from Clanton was shot and killed. The incident occurred at a residence on County Road 324. Jones was at his friend's home when an altercation broke out with a neighbor.
During the dispute, the neighbor, identified as 25-year-old Evan Romano, allegedly shot Jones. He sustained at least one gunshot wound to the chest. Emergency services were called, and Jones was transported to a local hospital, UAB St. Vincent–Chilton Hospital in Clanton, where he ultimately succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
Following an investigation into the fatal shooting, the Chilton County Sheriff's Office arrested Romano. He has been charged with murder in connection with Jones's death. Romano was taken into custody and is being held at the Chilton County Jail on a $100,000 bond. Authorities believe the shooting was the result of the altercation between the two men.
