On a tragic Friday evening, the life of Taylor Dudley Stewart, a 26-year-old White/Caucasian female from Hamilton, Alabama, was cut short. On August 15, 2025, she was shot to death inside a residence located in the 700 block of Stewart Road. The violence of that night also extended to her nearly two-year-old daughter, who was critically injured by the gunfire and had to be transported out of state for emergency medical treatment.
First responders discovered a horrific scene in a back bedroom, where both mother and child had sustained multiple gunshot wounds.
The immediate aftermath of the shooting sparked a massive overnight manhunt for the primary suspect, Taylor's 25-year-old husband, Tristen Amani Stewart. The search, which lasted for approximately 15 hours, involved a coordinated effort between local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies. The extensive search concluded the following morning, August 16, 2025, around 11:15 a.m., when Tristen Amani Stewart was located and taken into custody without further incident. He was subsequently booked into the Marion County Jail and charged with capital murder, with authorities indicating that more charges could be forthcoming.

Kenneth Stewart was arrested and faced charges of aiding and abetting capital murder, as well as obstructing governmental operations. Investigators alleged that Kenneth Stewart hindered the search for his son by withholding crucial information. According to court documents, he drove Tristen away from the scene of the crime before returning nearly an hour later to contact 911. Both men were held in custody without bond following their arrests. In the wake of this tragedy, loved ones mourned Taylor, whose funeral services were scheduled for August 23, 2025, remembering her by her maiden name, Taylor Madison Dudley.
