In the summer of 2018, a quiet street in St. Louis, Missouri, became the scene of a grim discovery that left neighbors in shock and investigators with a complex case. On a Tuesday morning in August, the bodies of two sisters, 55-year-old Ruth Portegee and her younger sister, 49-year-old Loretta, were found inside their home on Whittier Street.
